Veteran stock-car driver John Vallo recently posted his 300th-career feature victory, winning the late-model main event at Columbus (Ohio) Motor Speedway. “I was thinking of quitting when I got to 300, but now I’m not,” said Vallo, who leads the standings at CMS...Steve Cannon completed his recovery from season-ending injuries he sustained during a sprint-car crash in April 2007 with a July 5 358 sprint-car victory at Selinsgrove (Pa.) Speedway…Roger Maynor scored the 90th victory of his career in the Figure-8 main event July 5 at Riverhead (N.Y.) Raceway... Mike Kellner won the July 6 late-model feature at Pennsylvania’s Grandview Speedway, a race his father, Jon Kellner, Sr., won four times…Nick Pecko and Billy VanInwegen, both 15-year-old competitors on the Weikel Racewear Tour, were approved for competition at New Egypt Speedway by the New Jersey State Police…21-year-old Chris Hile got back to victory lane July 4 by driving the pink No. 2k Kreis Motorsports entry in the Mr. DIRTcar Sportsman Championship Series at Brewerton (N.Y.) Speedway. The pink car was built in honor of team-owner Ernie Kreis’s granddaughter, Katelyn Kane. “She’s fast, color doesn’t matter and it looks real good anyway,” said Hile…At Nebraska’s Dawson County Raceway July 6, Jack Sherman came out of the pits late in the early stages of a hobby-stock B feature. By lap five, he had passed everyone in the field to return to the lead lap. He was then able to pass everyone again to win the race. . .
