Terry Cheetham broke a NASCAR modified division winless streak that was nearly eight years in the making with his July 18 victory at Spencer Speedway in Williamston, N.Y. His last previous win came July 28, 2000. . .Bob Henry, Jr. got a memorable birthday present July 18 — his first DIRTcar modified victory at Brewerton (N.Y.) Speedway. Henry had to hold off DIRT’s all-time modified feature winner, Alan Johnson, to do it... Speedy Faucette held off the bounty hunters for his seventh-straight victory and his seventh-straight qualifying pole July 18 at Ace Speedway in Altamahaw, N.C...Tim Brown’s string of eight-straight modified pole awards came to an end July 19 at Bowman Gray Stadium in Winston-Salem, N.C., when rival Burt Myers captured the pole and Brown qualified 12th... Limaland (Ohio) Motorsports Park celebrated its 73rd anniversary July 18, kicking off a seven-week dash to the end of the 2008 season...Chris Anthony’s five-year wait to get to victory lane in the late-model division at Berlin Raceway in Marne, Mich., ended July 19 when he held off Tom Thomas for the breakthrough win...Skip Jackson earned his 25th Knoxville (Iowa) Raceway sprint-car victory July 19...Greg Skaggs collected his track-leading 10th victory of the year, including three straight, July 18 at Oklahoma’s Outlaw Motor Speedway...Second-generation driver Jody Tripp earned his first-career victory in exciting fashion, scoring a .009-second triumph over Billy Prisco in the sports-truck feature July 19 at Seekonk (Mass.) Speedway...A set of brothers won their respective features for the first time July 19 in the “new era” of St. John, Pa.’s Mountain Speedway. Ricky Ross, Jr. was the late-model feature winner, while Nick Ross won the thriller main event.
