Jeremy Wonderling’s late-model victory on May 9 at Black Rock Speedway in Dundee, N.Y., came a matter of hours after Wonderling became a father, welcoming son Carson Madsen into the world…Jeff Russell won the 31st-annual Bill Vukovich Classic on May 10 at Madera (Calif.) Speedway. The race annually honors the 1953 and 1954 Indy 500 champion…Culbertson (Neb.) Speedway was forced to reschedule all but one of its feature events from May 9 due to rain. The make-up date for all four of the A-features is June 6. The IMCA stock-car feature, which was won by Mikey Dancer, was the only one to make it before the rains fell on May 9…Eddie Ligue edged Ryan Moore by .028 second to win the turbo-stox feature on May 10 at Illiana Speedway. Two other features were also decided by less than a half-second… Andy Forsberg doubled up on Mother’s Day weekend, collecting $2,000 winner’s shares at Chico, Calif.’s Silver Dollar Speedway on May 9 and then at Placerville (Calif.) Speedway on May 10, dedicating both victories to his mother. “I want to thank my mom and all the moms out here tonight for everything they do for us,” he said. “Happy Mother’s Day.” . . .On May 11, Kevin Claborn equaled the Mount Lawn (Ind.) Speedway track record set just a week earlier by Eric Evans with a qualifying lap of 16.511… Paul Wilmoth, Jr. won for the fourth-consecutive week at Tyler County (W. Va.) Speedway, putting off the potential collection of a $500 bounty by competitors...Joey Laguere, 64, reset his own record for career victories in the Tiger Sportsman class with win No. 16 on May 11 at Barre, Vt.’s Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl…NASCAR driver and Sharon Speedway owner Dave Blaney celebrated his ninth-place finish in the Dodge Challenger 500 at Darlington (S.C.) Raceway by offering patrons of the Hartford, Ohio, oval $9 admission this past Saturday.
