Saturday
FONTANA, Calif. — The Pacific F2000 Championship Presented by Hankook 2008 campaign opened this past weekend at the newly renamed Auto Club Speedway, and the results indicate that this may be one of the most competitive seasons yet.
Saturday began with 2006 Series Champion Robert Podlesni, who returned to Dave Freitas Racing to drive the Terminal Velocity/Alpinestars Van Diemen RF08, immediately making his presence known by taking the first pole of the season.
From there, Podlesni won a tight battle with Max Hyatt after the two exchanged the lead. Scott Rarick and Shaun Modisette followed as the top four cars were separated by only 2.035 seconds.

Sunday
After stalling on the grid prior to the start of the race on Saturday, Jeff Westphal recovered to clinch a Pacific F2000 Championship victory at Auto Club Speedway on Sunday.
Westphal pulled away early and was never seriously challenged as the drivers behind him battled for position. Modisette finished second and Hyatt finished third and was on the podium for the second-straight day after a second-place finish Saturday. Hyatt won a fierce battle with Podlesni, Nicky Freytag and Rarick to claim his second podium of the weekend.
