Aug. 13

MAYETTA, Kan. — Defending All Star Circuit of Champions title winner Greg Wilson stormed into Thunderhill Speedway and picked up his 21st-career All Star sprint-car triumph Aug. 13.
Wilson passed leader Nick Smith in traffic exiting the fourth turn on the final lap to steal the victory from Smith, who had led most of the race.
Brian Paulus led from lap eight to lap 13 when he spun and handed the point back to Smith. Brandon Martin challenged Smith on lap 24, but slipped high and Wilson charged into contention.
Smith finished second, ahead of Gary Wright, Martin and Danny Smith.

HAYS, Kan. — Veteran sprint-car racer Gary Wright was the benefit of the All Star Circuit of Champions’s inversion system Aug. 14 at RPM Speedway.
Wright qualified sixth and started on the pole for round two of Thunder Through the Plains. The current American Sprint Cars on Tour champion was never headed en route to a dominant victory.
Brian Paulus came home second, ahead of Jason Martin, Greg Wilson and Danny Smith.

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. — Chad Blonde towed in from Michigan and won Friday night’s O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions sprint-car feature at Riverside Int’l Speedway.
Blonde started from the third row and used a slide job on Lee Sowell to take the lead on lap six of the quarter-mile oval. Sowell slid into the fence, bringing out the yellow flag.
Blonde led on the restart, with veteran racer Jeff Swindell chasing. Blonde held on for the victory as the pair raced through lapped traffic.
Swindell was second, ahead of Greg Wilson, A.J. Bruns, Danny Smith, who started 15th, and fast-qualifier Tim Montgomery.

WEST MEMPHIS, Ark. — Jeff Swindell picked up his third-career O’Reilly All Star Circuit of Champions sprint-car victory Saturday night at Riverside Int’l Speedway, but it was his first 410-winged-sprint-car triumph in many years.
Running a limited schedule of sprint-car races at the quarter-mile dirt track, Swindell jumped into the lead from the start.
The race was halted when Gary Wright and Brian Paulus tangled and flipped on lap. Two laps after the restart, point leader Danny Smith flipped his No. 4.
When the action settled down, Swindell had a fight on his hands with Chad Blonde challenging for the lead. However, Blonde tangled with the lapped car of Jason Keith and crashed.
Swindell fought off Dale Howard for the $5,000 victory, with A.J. Bruns, Paul May and Greg Wilson following.
