MECHANICSBURG, Pa. — Fred Rahmer cruised to an easy victory Friday night in the 30-lap All Star Circuit of Champions feature at Williams Grove Speedway.
Rahmer started second, beat All Star point-leader and five-time Grove champion Lance Dewease into the first turn, and set sail from the field for his second Grove victory of the season and 76th of his career. Between Rahmer and Dewease, they own 143 wins and 12 track championships at the Grove.
Rahmer was to traffic by lap seven and switched from the outside groove to the bottom of the speedway in order to lap cars. Rahmer had a close call in the second turn with Mark Smith on lap 13 as the two nearly got together.
Fast Freddie had a straightaway lead on Dewease and sixth-starter Cody Darrah at the halfway point of the feature and was never challenged during the non-stop event.
“I’ve raced forever, but I’ve never had a car set-up like this, chassis-wise,” said Rahmer. “I’d still rather win from 12th, but against the All Stars and for $5,000, it’s nice to win from the front row, too.”
Darrah, who recently graduated high school, got under Dewease exiting turn two with two laps remaining to finish second, while Dewease hung on for third.
Defending track champion Todd Shaffer passed two cars in the final 10 laps to finish fourth. Keith Kauffman was fifth.
The finish:
Fred Rahmer, Cody Darrah, Lance Dewease, Todd Shaffer, Keith Kauffman, Stevie Smith, Jeff Shepard, Sean Michael, Brian Montieth, Brian Leppo, Dale Blaney, Don Kreitz, Jr., Brian Ellenberger, Alan Krimes, Alan Cole, Mark Smith, Greg Hodnett, Pat Cannon, Chad Layton, Jimmy Siegel, Paul McMahan, Ryan Bohlke, Niki Young, Cory Haas.

Saturday

HANOVER, Pa. — Rain just as the gates were to open delayed Saturday night’s All Star Circuit of Champions sprint-car race at Lincoln Speedway, but just before 1:30 a.m., Cris Eash was standing in victory lane.
“Man that was awesome,” said Eash following his $5,000 victory. “There towards the end of the race, I lost my brakes. But luckily I was running the top and I didn’t need a lot of brakes up there.”
Fred Rahmer took the early lead, but a yellow flag when Cory Haas and Paul McMahan tangled brought a restart and Greg Wilson jumped into the lead, pacing the first 17 laps of the three-eighths-mile oval.
Near the mid point in the event, Wilson began to have handling problems and Rahmer took the lead on lap 17. His lead was short lived, however, as Eash raced past him one lap later.
From there, Eash held off Rahmer for the victory, with Brian Monteith taking third. Doug Esh and Chad Layton rounded out the top five.
The finish:
Cris Eash, Fred Rahmer, Brian Monteith, Doug Esh, Chad Layton, Brian Leppo, Stevie Smith, Greg Wilson, Greg Hodnett, Jim Siegel, Aaron Ott, Lance Dewease, Cody Darrah, Josh Wells, Randy Hannagan, Dale Blaney, Michael Carber, Alan Krimes, Scott Geesey, Brandon Martin, Big Block Weaver, Cory Haas, Craig Keel, Paul McMahan.

Sunday

CLEARFIELD, Pa. — Mark Smith rebounded from a mid-race miscue to win the 30-lap All Star Circuit of Champions feature Sunday night at the Central PA Speedway.
Smith started on the pole, but second-place starter Paul McMahan shot into the lead at the start. One lap was completed before the red flag waved for a first-turn flip by Jimmy Seiger.
McMahan, driving Rick Ferkel’s No. 0, led until a lap-four restart when Smith dove under him to take the lead.
Smith had built a comfortable lead and was trying to lap Rod George a little over half way through the feature when he got a little too high in the first corner and got over the ledge of the speedway. He got back onto the track, but fell to third.
McMahan was leading Greg Hodnett and Smith when he broke and brought out the caution with 10 laps to go. Hodnett held Smith off on the restart, but a yellow flag for All Star point-leader Lance Dewease allowed Smith one more chance. He dove under Hodnett in the first turn to reclaim the lead.
Smith earned his second-career All Star feature in his self-made Mach 1 Chassis, NRG Controls North sprinter. Hodnett, 12th-starter Dale Blaney, Randy Hannagan and Stevie Smith completed the top five.
“I couldn’t see where the ledge was and I kept getting higher and higher, and I went a little too far,” said Smith.
McMahan set a new track record in time trials with a lap of 13.698 seconds.
The finish:
Mark Smith, Greg Hodnett, Dale Blaney, Randy Hannagan, Stevie Smith, Brian Ellenberger, Lance Dewease, Brandon Martin, Lee Stark, Rod George, Greg Wilson, Mike Erdley, Ryan Myers, Paul McMahan, Alan Cole, Mike Denner, Fred Rahmer, Jimmy Seiger.
