Gohn And Martin Share Rebel Triumphs

Danny Martin, Jr.

Friday

OCALA, Fla. — Bryn Gohn reached victory lane in Friday night’s 25-lap American Sprint Car Series Rebel Region feature as sprint cars took to the clay at Ocala Speedway for the first time in more than a decade.
Gohn took advantage of Matt Tiffany’s late misfortune and outdueled Danny Martin, Jr. over the final two laps to snare his second-career ASCS Regional win aboard Kenny Adams’s Don Ott-powered B&W Trucking/Goodson Farms No. 4b Shaw.
Gohn gunned into the early lead, pacing the opening 11 circuits before Tiffany took command.  Tiffany led the way until the 23rd lap when his right rear tire shredded and sent him into wall.
Gohn set the pace on the restart, but Martin battled into the lead and held the point as the white flag waved.  Gohn battled back in the final lap to take the win, with Martin settling for runner-up honors.
Defending series champion T.J. Winegardner, Michael Miller and Adams filled the top five.
The finish:
Bryn Gohn, Danny Martin, Jr., T.J. Winegardner, Michael Miller, Kenny Adams, Sport Allen, Matt Linder, Shane Kreidler, Samantha Taylor, Danny Jones, Frank Carlsson, Frank Beck III, Matt Kurtz, Matt Tiffany, Brian Maddox, Tyler Godwin, Gavin Thomas, Mike Schroeder, Red Stauffer, Gene Lasker.

Saturday

GIBSONTON, Fla. — It was quality over quantity for Danny Martin, Jr., in Saturday night’s American Sprint Car Series Rebel Region event at East Bay Raceway Park.
While “The Hammer” led only one round of the 25-lap main event, it was the one that mattered most as the 22-year-old snared his second-career ASCS Regional triumph by virtue of a dramatic last lap pass of point-leader Kenny Adams.
Adams took the lead at the outset of the feature and appeared to be on his way to a second ASCS Rebel Region win of the year.
Martin’s heroics dictated otherwise, as he raced to the front of the final round, with Adams settling for runner-up honors. Matt Tiffany, T.J. Winegardner and Michael Miller rounded out the top five.
The finish:
Danny Martin, Jr., Kenny Adams, Matt Tiffany, T.J. Winegardner, Michael Miller, Brian Smith, Brian Maddox, Matt Linder, Red Stauffer, Frank Beck III, Samantha Taylor, Gavin Thomas, Mike Schroeder, Robbie Smith, Frank Carlsson, Tyler Godwin, Shane Kreidler, Greg Leonard, Gene Lasker, Bryn Gohn.
