HAUGHTON, La. — O’Reilly ASCoT National title contender Jason Johnson notched his second American Sprint Car Series Gulf South Region victory of the season by racing to victory in the inaugural Josh Lofton Memorial Saturday night at Champion Park Speedway.
Working the top-side of the quarter-mile clay oval, Johnson passed Sam Hafertepe, Jr. on the 11th round and led the rest of the way to collect the $2,000 winner’s share in the 25-lapper aboard Marvin Pearson’s Wesmar-powered Custom Equipment Design No. 11 Eagle.
“The top was good after we got it cleaned off, it just took a few laps to get it going,” Johnson said.
Hafertepe settled for second, ahead of Travis Elliott, Skip Wilson and Gary Watson.

PHOENIX — Defending champion Jeremy Sherman made a quick return to Discount Tire Co. American Sprint Car Series Canyon Region victory lane as the series took to Manzanita Speedway’s half-mile clay oval for the first time this year with Saturday night’s 30-lap Donny Davis Memorial event.
Sherman emerged atop an early duel with Josh Pelkey for the point before snaring his second victory in three tries aboard Fred Bryan’s Wesmar-powered F&E Development No. 77.
Charles Davis, Jr. romped from 15th to finish second, ahead of Pelkey, Mike Martin and Mike Leslie.
