PHOENIX — Jeremy Sherman picked right up where he left off last year by winning Saturday night’s season-opening feature for the Discount Tire Co. American Sprint Car Series Canyon Region atop Manzanita Speedway’s third-mile clay oval.
After winning 12 of 20 events en route to the championship last year, Sherman raced to victory ahead of Jesse Hockett, with R.J. Johnson, Nathan High and 23rd-starter Brian Camarillo rounding out the top five.
