PHOENIX — Casey Shuman captured his first Discount Tire Co. American Sprint Car Series Canyon Region victory by topping Saturday night’s 30-lap feature atop Manzanita Speedway’s third-mile clay oval.
And he did so in spectacular fashion by wrestling the lead away from 19-year-old Jeremy Reagles on the final lap.
Reagles led from the start, but Shuman came on strong at the end, taking the lead heading to the checkered flag.
Reagles, Josh Pelkey, Nathan High and Charles Davis, Jr. rounded out the top five.

TUCSON, Ariz. — Don Grable captured the inaugural American Sprint Car Series Southwest Region victory as the series contested its first event at USA Race Park Saturday night.
Grable took command when early pacesetter Rick Ziehl was forced pitside with engine woes, and charged to the checkered flag in the 25-lapper aboard the Casey Minks-owned No. 29x entry.
The El Paso racer was chased to the line by Ronnie Clark, Steve Martin, Mike Rux, Jr. and Dennis Krob.
