Poirier Takes Two Out Of Three

GRANBY, Québec — Empire Super Sprint series point-leader Steve Poirier moved another step closer to his first-ever series title with a thrilling victory in Friday night’s Lucas Oil Canadian Invasion Series event at Autodrome Granby.
Poirier came from the 12th starting spot and grabbed the lead on a wild pass to jump from third to the front with seven laps to go to secure his second win of the season.
Running the final laps under the green flag, Poirier used lapped traffic to open up some distance as Wickham and Yonge swapped the runner-up spot in the closing laps with Yonge finally gaining the upper hand on lap 21 to come home second. Justin Barger made a late-race pass to claim third ahead of Wickham. Michael Parent rounded out the top five.

DRUMMOND, Québec — Bubby Kerrick collected his second Empire Sprint Series A-main season victory Saturday, winning the 25-lap Lucas Oil Canadian Invasion Series event at Autodrome Drummond in a thrilling battle with new teammate Brian McDonald.
Kerrick started on the pole for the feature, but it was McDonald going around the top side of the track to jump to the front from his fourth-place starting spot.
McDonald tried to open up a lead but had his progress slowed by lapped traffic, which proved to be an advantage for the more experienced Kerrick.
Coming off turn two on lap 19, Kerrick slipped under McDonald to take the lead and held on through the final five laps for the victory. Justin Barger finished second, followed by Cory Sparks. McDonald faded back into the fourth spot after losing the lead, finishing just ahead of Jeff VanDusen.

VERNON, N.Y. — Taking the lead on a lap-18 restart from Jeff Cook, Steve Poirier moved closer to taking the overall Empire Super Sprint (ESS) championship with his second victory of the Labor Day Weekend Sunday night at Utica-Rome Speedway.
After a wild three-car battle, Poirier wouldn’t be denied as he took home his eighth-career ESS triumph.
Chuck Hebing settled for second, while Cook took third. Jeff VanDusen and Jared Zimbardi completed the top five.
