PLACERVILLE, Calif. — Former track champion Mike Henry withheld a late race challenge from Tyler Walker to pick up his first-career Golden State Challenge Series victory Saturday night at Placerville Speedway.
Henry started from the pole and easily led the first 20 laps of the quarter-mile oval. But multiple yellow flags during the second half of the race kept Walker, Jonathan Allard and Tim Kaeding within striking distance.
Henry held off Walker, while Kaeding got around Allard at the end for third, with Brent Kaeding taking fifth.
“I just have to thank this team for believing in me and putting me in this car,” Henry said. “We have a lot of people who help out on this car and I’ve got to thank each and every one of them and this is just awesome to be able to come out and win my first GSC race at my home track.”
The finish:
