Restart Helps Walker Get By Kaeding, Allard

By Gary Thomas

ANTIOCH, Calif. — Tyler Walker utilized a strong early restart to put himself into the lead, and the driver of the SC Motorsports No. 24 never faltered as he drove off to pick up his first-career Golden State Challenge Series victory.
“I’m just so happy to be able to win tonight and I couldn’t be happier to be back running a 410 sprint car in California,” Walker said. “I have to thank Lee (Lindgren) and the guys because this thing was awesome tonight.”
Walker started outside the third row, but used the lap-two restart to zip past Jonathan Allard and Brent Kaeding and grab the lead on the quarter-mile bullring.
While traffic did come in to play, Walker was in control the remainder of the 30-lap event, holding off Kaeding for his first victory with the team.
Allard finished third and moved into the series point lead, while Evan Suggs and Bud Kaeding rounded out the top five.
The finish:
Tyler Walker, Brent Kaeding, Jonathan Allard, Evan Suggs, Bud Kaeding, Jason Statler, Roger Crockett, Mike Henry, Garrett Ishii, Brandon Carey, Shawn Arriaga, Mike Mossi, Dan Simpson, Pat Harvey, Jr., Taylor Malsam, Ken Fredenburg, Brent Bjork, Tim Kaeding, Mark Tabor, Sr., Jason Botsford, Mark Tabor, Jr., Mark Workentine.
