Uttech Proves His IRA Mettle, Nips Goeden
Frank Filskov Memorial Hall Classic
PLYMOUTH, Wis. — Scott Uttech edged Donny Goeden in a last-lap thriller to capture his first IRA Outlaw Sprint feature victory, while Travis Whitney claimed his second-straight series title in Saturday’s 11th annual Frank Filskov Memorial Fall Classic at Sheboygan County Fair Park.
Uttech started sixth and moved up to take third behind Goeden and leader Kurt Davis just as the caution flag waved early in the event. On the restart, Goeden jumped Davis to take the lead, while Uttech slid past to take second.
A final caution slowed the field, putting Uttech on the leader’s bumper as the two battled through the final laps, with Uttech pulling alongside Goeden hugging the bottom of the track before finally pulling ahead out of the final corner to win by less than a car length. Billy Balog came home third, followed by John Haeni and point runner-up Mike Reinke.
Whitney took home the title despite not making the feature field after crashing out of the B main.
