Maier Manages Mid-Nebraska

DONIPHAN, Neb. — After an off-night Friday, O’Reilly NCRA Sprint Car Series point-leader Garry Lee Maier returned to the winner’s circle Saturday at Mid-Nebraska Speedway.
Maier pulled underneath race leader Don Droud, Jr. at the starter’s stand to end lap 21 of 30. They raced side by side on lap 22 until Maier went to the top and took the lead heading into turn one on the 23rd circuit and held on for his fifth victory of the season.
C.J. Johnson passed Droud for second before a late caution set up a three-lap dash to the finish, but the top positions held as Johnson took second, followed by Droud, J.D. Johnson and Chad Humston.
