PLACERVILLE, Calif. — Kyle Hirst became the first winner of the 2008 Hoosier Tires Civil War Series at Placerville Speedway during the special “Wild Winged Wednesday” event April 9.
Aboard the GP Development No. 6 sprint car, Hirst bested a 42-car field in an event that was the survival of the fittest with a dozen different cars going upside down during the night. Eight different drivers went upside down during the 30-lap feature, adding to the already numerous crash victims that suffered damage in the preliminary events.
Hirst started 10th and used the numerous yellow and red flags to work his way toward the front, chasing early leaders James Sweeney and David Robinson, Jr. Hirst moved even with Robinson for the lead on lap 15 and after a lengthy battle, took the point on lap 21.
From there, he held off Robinson for the victory, while Andy Forsberg, Steven Tiner and Kyle Larson rounded out the top five.

PETALUMA, Calif. — Sean Becker claimed round two of the Hoosier Racing Tires Civil War Sprint Car Series for 360 sprint cars Saturday night at Petaluma Speedway.
With 40 cars on hand, Becker drove Scott Miller’s No. 2sb to his first triumph of the season on the three-eighths-mile dirt track.
Starting from the pole, Becker took the lead at the start and led every lap while battles for position raged behind him.
Willie Croft finished second, ahead of Kyle Larson, David Robinson, Jr. and Andy Forsberg.
Sixteen-year-old Alissa Geving was the fast qualifier and finished sixth.
