Hodnett Fends Off Wolfe

Sept. 15, Selinsgrove (Pa.) Speedway

Greg Hodnett held off a late-race challenge by Lucas Wolfe to win the 25th anniversary National Open for 410 winged sprint cars.
Hodnett, at the wheel of the J&S Fabrication No. 22, won $10,000 for his third victory in the National Open and 11th-career victory at the speedway. Hodnett became one of four drivers to win Selinsgrove’s Open three or more times. The victory was Hodnett’s 12th of the season.
Hodnett took the lead from Rick Lafferty on lap three and paced the remainder of the 30-lap distance on the historic half-mile oval.
Wolfe came on strong at the end to finish second, while Brian Leppo, Lafferty and Sean Michael rounded out the top five.
Track champion Gary Beward won his ninth race of the season in the 15-lap pro stock event.
