KNOXVILLE, Iowa — Hot afternoon sun and a dry race track couldn’t slow Kerry Madsen on Saturday, as the Australian hot shoe won the non-qualifier’s feature for the Knoxville Nationals.
Madsen led all 15 laps on the historic half-mile dirt track to post his 15th victory at Knoxville, earn $5,000 and the 11th starting spot for Saturday night’s C main. “You really couldn’t pass the lapped cars. This is quite an adventure we’re having this afternoon,” Madsen said. “We start 11th in the C main and we’re going to try to get this thing in the feature tonight.”
Jonathan Allard finished second, with Brock Mayes, Jac Haudenschild and Jason Meyers in the top five.
