CORDELE, Ga. — Wayne Reutimann, Jr. won the 35-lap O’Reilly USCS Asphalt Thunder Tour season opener Saturday night at Watermelon Capital. It was Reutimann’s sixth-career USCS triumph.
Reutimann and fast-qualifier Danny Martin, Jr. shared the front row, but Reutimann got the advantage heading down the backstretch on the four-tenths-mile asphalt oval and led all 35 laps.
A yellow flag with one lap remaining brought a green-white-checkered finish, but Reutimann was up to the task, beating Martin to the checkered flag. Reutimann’s father, Wayne, Sr., finished third, with Terry Gray and Wendy Mathis rounding out the top five.
The finish:
Wayne Reutimann, Jr., Danny Martin, Jr., Wayne Reutimann, Sr., Terry Gray, Wendy Mathis, Shane Butler, Adam Jackson, Keith Butler, Curtis Rhoades, Tom Selhorst, Ryan Duncan, Ricky Burnett, T.J. Winegardner.
