NASHVILLE — Illinois driver Eddie Hoffman collected his second-consecutive guitar at the Music City Motorplex on Saturday, leading the final 51 laps to capture the Adam Petty Memorial-All American 200 for the ASA Late Model Series.
Hoffman grabbed the lead on lap 149 when leader Brian Campbell spun while attempting to pass a lapped car.
Campbell had inherited the lead on lap 79 when Jeremy Miller lost a left-front tire and made heavy contact with the turn-three wall.
Miller started from the pole and grabbed the point chased by Bo Miller.
The race was red-flagged on lap 11 when four cars got together entering turn three and when the action resumed it was Miller opening up a lead over Bo Miller. Hoffman, who started tenth in the 34-car field, was running sixth at the time.
As the leaders closed on lapped traffic late in the race, Campbell attempted to use the low groove to get under the lapped car of Dakota Stroup and spun, handing the lead to Hoffman.
Hoffman was pressured to the finish by Jacob Goede with Keeton Hanks moving up from 16th.
The best racing was a four-car battle for fourth among Trent Snyder, Jesse Smith, Jimmy Lang and Kris Stump. Lap after lap, Smith would attempt to get inside of Snyder as the two raced side by side.
With 25 laps remaining Smith completed the pass to secure the fourth spot, while Snyder was challenged by Lang and Stump.
At the finish it was Hoffman, Goede, Hanks and Smith with Snyder holding on for fifth.
“We love this place,” Hoffman said. “We were loose to start the second half of the race and had to wait to get into traffic. I thought sooner or later we would have been able to make the pass.”
Hoffman said lapped traffic is a part of racing and those drivers are also battling for position.
Goede said for the first 100 laps his car was really good and the team only changed four tires for the final 100 laps.
“We were going as hard as we could,” Goede said. “I guess Eddie (Hoffman) is Mr. Nashville. The car got a little tight in the middle of the run. This place is a lot of fun to race.”
The finish:
Eddie Hoffman, Jacob Goede, Keeton Hanks, Jesse Smith, Trent Synder, Jimmy Lang, Kris Stump, Wes Burton, Pete Vanderwyst, John Wes Townley, Sean Murphy, Cody Smith, Michael Bilderback, Thor Anderson, Travis Dassow, Greg Boone, Bo Miller, Austin Siebert, Chris Eggleston, Terry Van Haitsma, Dakota Stroup, Peter Cozzolino, Brian Campbell, Beau Slocumb, Michael Annett, Robbie Pyle, David Wilson, Travis Cope, Brent Seeley, Jeremy Miller, Derek Thorn, Ryan Carlson, Alec Carll, Wes Griffith, Jr.
