LAKE HAVASU, Ariz. — It was a battle between two hungry racers in search of their first career win Saturday night at the Havasu 95 Speedway in the ASA Speed Truck Challenge Series.
Action heated up quickly with the field seeing a red flag period after the front row starters Andy Allen and Darren Young got together just two laps in. Allen’s machine took the brunt of the damage in the first turn while Young inherited the lead but was left with an ill-handling machine after the contact. Jason Black took advantage of Young’s ailing entry and took the lead on lap 11.
Black dominated the event through multiple caution flag periods, including a restart on lap 90. Black and the second place car of Dallas Colodny took the restart free of lapped traffic, but a caution waved yet again, setting up a green-white-checkered flag finish. Colodny trailed by just a car length at the finish as Black scored his first Speed Truck win. Paul Bonaccorsi, Todd McLauchlan and Darren Young were the top five.
