KAUKUANA, Wis. — In only his third visit to the track, NASCAR Nextel Cup driver Kyle Busch came out on top in the Factory Motor Parts 150 ASA Kwik Trip Midwest Tour Aug. 7 at Wisconsin Int’l Raceway.
Starting 10th, Busch made his way through the field and used a restart to take the lead from Dan Fredrickson on lap 40. Fredrickson retook the lead five laps later, and the two pulled away from the rest of the field.
Busch challenged Fredrickson for the lead again on lap 115, and after a series of restarts, took over the top spot with 20 laps to go to capture his first ASA Midwest Tour victory.
“Great race. I really enjoyed racing with Dan Fredrickson and the rest of the guys in this series,” Busch said. “It was an awesome race.”
Fredrickson held on for second, followed by Nathan Haseleu, Ken Schrader and Jaime Iverson.

Saturday

SHAKOPEE, Minn. — Dan Fredrickson continued his summer hot streak as he took the lead in dramatic fashion with just a few laps to go and went on to capture the American Speed Ass’n Shakopee at Raceway Park.
With three laps to go, Fredrickson tried to make a pass on the low side for the first time all night as he and leader Adam Royle came out of turn two. Less than a half-lap later, the risky move paid off as Fredrickson took the lead firmly out of turn four to seal his top position over Royle in the dash to the checkered flag. Royle held on for second and Steve Carlson completed the podium.
The triumph was the third of the season for Fredrickson, who also recorded ASA Midwest Tour victories at LaCrosse Speedway and Grundy County Speedway.
The finish:
Dan Fredrickson, Adam Royle, Steve Carlson, Jamie Iverson, Nathan Haseleu, Dave Feiler, Brian Johnson, Jr., Steve Anderson, Kenny Richards, Mark Kraus, Brandon Hill, Kyle Calmes, Rich Loch, Bryan Roach, Jonathan Eilen, Doug Mahlik, Travis Sauter, Kris Kelly, Bryan Turtle, Jacob Goede, Jon Olson, Donny Reuvers, Russ Blakely, Nick Murgic, Joe Berthiaume, Dean Cornelius.
