BARRE, Vt. — Scott Payea earned his third-career American-Canadian Tour victory Sunday afternoon in the 10th-annual Merchants Bank 150 at Thunder Road Int’l Speedbowl.
After waging a race-long battle with defending track champion Dave Pembroke, Payea took the lead for good on lap 139. ACT Castrol Series champion Patrick Laperle passed Pembroke late for the runner-up position, and Pembroke was forced to settle for third.
Former ACT late-model champion Phil Scott finished fourth ahead of seven-time and defending ACT champion Jean-Paul Cyr.
