Blewett Blisters Wall’s High Banks In Turkey Time Trials

WALL TOWNSHIP, N.J. — Jimmy Blewett led the field in time trials for Wall Township Speedway modifieds, and six other drivers each claimed feature victories Friday as part of the two-day Turkey Derby at New Jersey’s oldest speedway.
Blewett’s time of 12.518 seconds around the high-banked third-mile paved oval led a contingent of 16 who were locked into Saturday’s event on the basis of time, with a balance of 11 drivers to go to a Saturday B main.
In a quartet of 25-lap feature races, Robert Geibel claimed the win for the MAD (Modified Affordable Division) cars, leading Scott Riggleman to the stripe in a close finish. A similarly close finish in the sportsman feature saw Chaz Okerson best Kevin Eyers. Elliott Wohl prevailed in the main event for street stocks, ahead of Ron Frees. In a hotly contested legends feature, Stephen Stull came home ahead of Tom Sherman.
A pair of 20-lap features put veteran driver Don Adams back in victory lane in the three-quarter midgets with Ryan Tidman grabbing second place in the closing laps. Danny Collamer was victorious in the factory stocks, leading John Cozza under the checkered flag.
