CALLAWAY, Va. — James Civali capped a record-breaking performance with a victory in Saturday’s ASA Southern Modified Race Tour feature at Franklin County Speedway.
After breaking the track qualifying record earlier in the day, Civali lined up sixth in the inversion behind polesitter Burt Myers and quickly worked his way to the front, passing Myers for the lead on lap 50.
Despite heavy lapped traffic, Civali skillfully held his advantage all the way to the checkered flag to notch his team’s second victory at the .375-mile oval. Myers came home second to clinch the 2007 ASA Southern Modified Race Tour championship. Frank Fleming, Jay Foley and Rich Kuiken rounded out the top five.
