MID-AMERICAN

Swan Fights For A Cure

Saturday, Road America, Elkhart Lake, Wis.

James Swan capped off his 2007 Mid-American Stock Car championship in style by winning the inaugural Fight For The Cure Fall 40.
Swan and Kenny Smart charged to the front from the fourth row after an opening lap spin jumbled the field, allowing Smart to quickly overtake Troy Shear, Jr. for the early lead.
Three laps into the event, Swan closed in on Smart but could not find a way around until Smart lost fourth gear two laps later, giving Swan the opening he needed. Once out in front, Swan never looked back as he cruised to the finish. Smart barely held onto second over Bill Prietzel. Shear, Jr. and Kyle Shear rounded out the top five.
The finish:
James Swan, Kenny Smart, Bill Preitzel, Troy Shear, Jr., Kyle Shear, Hank Tews, Tony Habeck, Mike Mulcahy, Bobby Gutknecht.
