Old School Racing Debuts First Race Car For 2008

ORLANDO, Fla. — The Old School Racing Champions Tour along with racing legends Jack Ingram, Dave Marcis, and Larry Pollard unveiled the first race car from the stables of Old School Racing at the Performance Racing Industry Trade Show.
The OSRCT car, reminiscent of one that David Pearson piloted in his hay-day, carried a gold No. 21 on the sides.
The unveiling was the official announcement of the Old School Racing Champion’s Tour into the racing world. The car that was unveiled is identical to the vehicles that will take to the track when the green flag flies on the inaugural OSRCT season in May of 2008.
The OSRCT race car is stocked with a crate 450 horsepower engine and has a 105-inch wheelbase. In addition, the OSRCT race car also has removable nose and tail pieces that will make for quick and easy repair at the track.
“This is a huge day for us,” said Norm Weaver, Managing Partner of OSRCT. “To see the first race car unveiled and have some of racings biggest names do the honor just shows how huge this series will be.”
NASCAR racing veteran Randy LaJoie has headed the safety initiatives on the OSRCT race cars. He has been responsible for much of the design and safety implementation tof the car. LaJoie will continue to work to make the car the safest possible for the drivers, crews and fans.
OSRCT will have retired and semi-retired champion drivers competing in a 10 race regular season schedule. Eligible drivers are previous NASCAR Cup, Busch, Truck race winners, series champions from ARCA, CART and Indy Car, and previous Indy 500 winners that are not currently competing full time in any of the previous series. There will be 15 drivers competing in each regular season race and 20 drivers in the OSRCT Championship Races.
Races will be held on a Wednesday, Thursday or Friday on short tracks located near NASCAR events scheduled for the weekend. Races will be 100 laps or less and the cars will be fully adjustable cars that meet current safety standards approved by an outside third party. The vehicles will be equally prepared, maintained, transported and provided to the drivers by OSRCT.
Each driver will be competing for a charity of their choice as well as for themselves. Each driver will have the logo of the charity they are competing for on the side of their race car.
