OSWEGO, N.Y. — Chris Perley appeared en route to his 10th International SuperModified Ass’n triumph of the season Friday night at Oswego Speedway when he encountered traffic on the final lap. He slid to a stop to avoid a slower car and the yellow flag waved.
Dave Shullick, Jr. inherited the lead and pulled away from Joey Payne on the restart to claim his first ISMA victory, worth $5,000.
“We didn’t have the best car here today,” the second-generation Ohio racer said. “We probably had the second best car. Chris had it hands down. I almost spun myself out a couple of times trying to keep up with him. It was unfortunate for him, but we’ll take them any way we can get them.”
Payne finished second, ahead of Mike Ordway, Jr., Greg Furlong and Mark Sammut.
