Swanson Earns First National Victory
KENLY, N.C. — Kody Swanson earned his first USAC Mopar National Midget Championship triumph Saturday night at Southern National Raceway Park.
The first USAC national midget race in North Carolina in two years and the first ever at the four-tenths-mile asphalt oval, saw Swanson lead all 40 laps at the wheel of Steve Lewis’s Toyota-powered No. 19.
The 2005 USAC Western Sprint Car champion was followed at the checkered flag by Dakoda Armstrong, Cole Whitt, Darren Hagen and Tracy Hines.
Brad Loyet was the fastest qualifier for the 26-car field, while heats went to Kevin Swindell, Bobby East and Levi Jones.
Whitt and Hines emerged in a tie for the series point lead.
