LOUDON, N.H. — NASCAR veteran and former USAC Triple Crown champion J.J. Yeley won Saturday’s New Hampshire 50 K&N USAC Silver Crown race at New Hampshire Int’l Speedway.
The race was halted after 31 laps due to darkness.
Yeley led all 31 laps of the race, which was originally scheduled for 75 laps of the one-mile asphalt oval. Yeley piloted A.J. Foyt’s No. 14 Greer Special/Foyt Racing C & R/Chevy. It was Yeley’s second triumph of the season and the fifth for the team.
Yeley’s teammate Pablo Donoso finished second, followed by Brian Tyler, Josh Wise and Aaron Pierce.
“I wish I had someone to race a little more with during the race,” said Yeley, who earned $21,000 for the victory. “But, being out front wasn’t too bad. Seeing the track wasn’t too bad until the final caution. I have a smoked visor and when they told us debris was on the frontstretch, I lifted my visor and couldn’t see any better. I figured then it was time to call it and they did.”
Point-leader Bud Kaeding finished 10th and carries a 47-point lead over Wayne Reutimann, Jr. into Saturday’s Four-Crown Nationals at Eldora Speedway in Ohio.
