BRASELTON, Ga. – Dunlop Tires announced today that it is dropping its U.S. racing program, instead opting to focus on European-based racing during the 2013 season.

The company had served as the exclusive tire supplier of Dyson Racing in the American Le Mans Series this year.

“Dunlop achieved multiple race wins and championships in the American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón,” said ALMS President and CEO Scott Atherton. “We thank Jean-Felix Bazelin and his team for the support and level of competition they brought to our prototype and GT classes for the past several years.

“Dunlop’s decision to concentrate on its European activities is understandable – and yes, disappointing. However we still enjoy strong manufacturer participation from Michelin, Falken and Yokohama going into the 2013 ALMS championship along with on-going discussions from other tire brands investigating ALMS involvement.”
