BOWMANVILLE, Ontario – The American Le Mans Series presented by Tequila Patrón turned its first laps north of the border Friday with 30 entries taking part in a promoter test day at the newly renovated Canadian Tire Motorsport Park.

Mike Conway set the fastest overall time with a lap of 1:10.656 in the No. 552 Siemens/Alpina Watches/Ohiya Casino Resort HPD ARX-03b for Level 5 Motorsports. Conway is subbing for Ryan Briscoe who fractured his right wrist in an IndyCar event in Toronto last week.

A heavy rain hit the 2.459-mile circuit one hour into the session prompting several teams to call it an early day.

Conway edged Extreme Speed Motorsports driver Johannes van Overbeek in the No. 02 Tequila Patrón HPD ARX-03b by 0.627 seconds to set the top time overall and in the P2 class. P1 entries from Muscle Milk Pickett Racing and Dyson Racing did not take time in the session, while the DeltaWing LM12 was eighth overall.

The GT class was led by the No. 93 Pennzoil Ultra SRT Viper GTS-R of Jonathan Bomarito and Canadian Kuno Wittmer. Jan Magnussen was second in the No. 3 Compuware Corvette C6 ZR1 for Corvette Racing, followed by the No. 56 BMW North America, LLC BMW Z4 GTE, which rounded out the top three.
