WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. – Ryan Dalziel held off teammate Sebastien Bourdais by .817 seconds to give Starworks Motorsport its second consecutive Rolex Series victory in Saturday evening’s Continental Tire 200 presented by Dunn Tire at Watkins Glen Int’l.

Dalziel – second in the Rolex 24 At Daytona and third in the Sahlen’s Six Hours of The Glen – joined new co-driver Lucas Luhr in giving the No. 8 Starworks Ford/Riley its first victory of the season. Bourdais and Alex Popow were coming off their first triumph in the No. 2 Starworks Ford/Riley in the inaugural Brickyard Grand Prix at Indianapolis Motor Speedway.

“This was sweet redemption. We needed this one today. When the yellow came out late in the race of course I was upset. I had pushed real hard when I first came out, and when I heard ‘Sea Bass’ (Sebastien Bourdais) was second, I got the whip out and was pushing real hard because I knew he would be coming on, and we came out of it with a pretty sizeable lead,” Dalziel said. “When the yellow came out I got a little nervous, but there was no way we were not going to come out of it without a victory. But once I saw I got the jump on the first lap after the restart, I was relieved.”

Scott Pruett and Memo Rojas finished third to preserve their Daytona Prototype championship lead with only three races remaining. Entering the race with an 11-point deficit, Dalziel managed to cut the margin to six points. Popow improved to fourth in the standings and is now 21 points back.

Bill Auberlen and Paul Dalla Lana scored their second victory of the season in the No. 94 Turner Motorsport BMW M3. Auberlen led the final 27 laps, holding off Eric Curran by .879 seconds. Curran co-drove the No. 31 Whelen Engineering Corvette with pole winner Boris Said.

“I hate to wish bad luck on anyone, but we could have used some good luck – and we got it today,” Dalla Lana said. “We were second here in June, so we took care of some unfinished business here today.”
