Audi Ace Duval Takes Wild Ride At Le Mans

LE MANS, France — Audi driver Loic Duval was involved in a wild crash during the opening moments of today’s first practice session for the 82nd edition of the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

Duval’s No. 1 Audi R18 e-tron Quattro left the track at a the Porsche Curves at a high rate of speed.

Duval was conscious and was transported to Le Mans’ Centre Hospitalier where he is undergoing further examination. According to a statement from the Automobile Club de l’Ouest, Duval’s condition was “encouraging.”

With just under an hour of open practice remaining, Sebastien Buemi had turned the best lap in the No. 8 Toyota TS 040-Hybrid, less than a second ahead of the Audi driven by Andre Lotterer

The first qualifying session is scheduled for 10 p.m. local time (4 p.m. EST).
