Houston MX-5 Cup Qualifying Points Will Stand
TOPEKA, Kan. – SCCA Pro Racing Playboy Mazda MX-5 Cup officials declared Wednesday that the series pole sitters will receive the three points earned during qualifying, prior to the cancellation of the race on the streets of Houston. No additional points will be awarded for the cancelled Round 10 race.
Christian Szymczak extended his championship lead to 531 points, with Elliott Skeer now 15 markers behind. John Dean remains in third with 486 points.
In the Skip Barber MAZDASPEED Pro Challenge, Kenton Koch remains at the top of the standings after collecting 569 points so far this season. Robby Foley sits second, 98 behind, followed by Drake Kemper with 469 points.
The final two races of the season will take place Oct. 16-18 at Road Atlanta, as part of the 16th Annual Petit Le Mans Powered by Mazda.
