Cornell Races From Fifth To Warrior Win

GRAIN VALLEY, Mo. — Valley Speedway offered up its third-mile dirt oval as the site of the 2012 Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior Region season opener.

Jonathan Cornell charged from fifth starting spot to win the 25-lap event after passing Australian racer Chad Ely for the lead on lap 16.

Starting outside front row of the main event, Ely would ultimately settle for the same spot despite leading the first half of the 25-lap affair. Grain Valley’s hometown pilot “Blackjack” Brian Brown advanced from the inside the fourth row to finish third.

Kyle Bellm and Tyler Blank completed the top five.
