SPRINGFIELD, Mo. — Drawing the pole for the 25-lap feature at Springfield Raceway, the Kiowa Line Builders No. 28 of Jonathan Cornell was unchallenged in the Speedway Motors ASCS Warrior and American Bank of Oklahoma ASCS Sooner Region showdown.
Closing in to battle in the later portions of the night’s event, Brian McClelland saw his chance at a pass nearly end up in the wall as Rafe Essary’s engine expired exiting turn four with the leaders on his back bumper.
With clear race track after that, Cornell crossed the line a straightaway ahead of the field.
Brian McClelland held off several attempts by Dustin Morgan to grab second at the line with the Ark Wrecking No. 2 completing the podium. Jumping behind the wheel of the Cooper Racing No. 04 normally piloted by Brad Graham, Kyle Bellm stayed in the championship hunt with a fourth-place showing with Matt Covington rounding out the top five.
The finish:
Jonathan Cornell, Brian McClelland, Dustin Morgan, Kyle Bellm, Matt Covington, Jamie Passmore, Cody Baker, Jonathan Beason, Shane Sellers, Brandon Hahn, Matt Ward, Adam Jones, Blake Hahn, Joe Bob Lee, Miranda Arnold, Jake Martens, Randy Hibbs, Jay Russell, Rafe Essary, Robert Sellers.
