KNOXVILLE, Iowa — Brooke Tatnell is no stranger to victory lane at the famed Knoxville Raceway, but not so much in the ASCS 360 division.
That all changed Friday night as the Australian grabbed night two of the 22nd annual Arnold Motor Supply 360 Knoxville Nationals.
Taking off from the third spot, the Pro Fab Engineering No. 14t fell back one as Tony Bruce Jr. took off from the pole. Gaining a comfortable advantage from the word go, the Oil Medics No. 18 would soon be stalked by the No. 9p of Rager Phillips.
Taking the field to lap seven, Phillips would get the run for the race lead; taking the top spot on the eighth go-round.
Following Phillips past the No. 18, the runner up spot would be filled by Tatnell before the caution flag waved on lap nine for the Hard Core Speed Shop No. 09 of Matt Juhl who came to a rest at the top of turn two. Phillips worked high and low to hold off the charge of Brook Tatnell on the restart.
Finding the moisture off the inside line, the Ostrich powered No. 14t would bolt into the race lead on the 11th tour of the half-mile oval.
Tatnell pulled away to a sizable advantage as the fight on the track raged mid-pack with Shane Stewart and Tim Shaffer on the move. Pulling just outside the top five, the battle on the speedway was for third as Tim Kaeding and Dusty Zomer went after Rager Phillips.
Clicking into the final five laps, the green stayed displayed with Brooke Tatnell continuing to pull away over the battle for the podium. Making quick work of third, Kaeding would jump into second with the Bargain Barn Tire Center No. 91 of Dusty Zomer in tow as the white flag was set to wave.
Tatnell went unchallenged to his first ASCS win at the Knoxville Raceway. Tim Kaeding would cross the line second with Dusty Zomer making up the podium. Roger Crockett would take fourth with Rager Phillips settling for fifth.
