Prock Controls Grundy STARS Midget Go
MORRIS, Ill. – Austin Prock scored his first career feature victory Saturday night, capturing the 50-lap D’Arcy GMC Pavement Midget Nationals presented by Bell Helmets STARS National Midget Series feature at Grundy County Speedway.
David Gough moved into the lead at the start from inside the second row, followed by Prock. With Gough leading the field attention turned to fast qualifier Kyle Hamilton, who passed four cars n the first five laps, from his twelfth place starting position. Hamilton moved to fifth place at the completion of lap 12. Three car lengths separated the top three, when Ryan Probst spun on lap 16 bringing out the caution.
Hamilton moved to third place on Lap 20, two laps later Prock passed Gough for the lead exiting turn four. Hamilton retired one lap later, after being hit by a car, suffering suspension failiure.
Dalton Armstrong was challenging Prock for the top position, when fourth place running Brad Greenup spun exiting turn four on lap 28, collecting Series points leader Jim Anderson, Billy Hulbert, and Caleb Armstrong, who flipped. The red flag was displayed for a blocked track.
Armstrong continued to challenged Prock after the restart for the remainder of the event as the pair pulled away from the field. Prock finished two-car lengths ahead of Armstrong collecting the $3,500 first place prize.
Completing the top five were Tyler Trainor, Nick Baran and David Budres.
