California Lightning Sprints Set Schedule
PLACENTIA, Calif. – The California Lightning Sprint Car Series has released the schedule for its historic 20th Anniversary season.
The CLS will kick off the 2013 campaign at the series home track, Perris (Calif.) Auto Speedway, on March 9. It will wrap up the year eight months later when The PAS hosts the 18th running of the Budweiser Oval Nationals in November.
The 18 races on the schedule will be split between six tracks in 2013. Perris Auto Speedway will host eight of the races, four will take place at the Bakersfield Speedway, the new clay on the Orange Show Speedway in San Bernardino and the Ventura Raceway will host two races each. Route 66 Motorplex in Victorville and the Santa Maria Speedway will each have one race.
One of the highlights of the 2013 season will be the prestigious “King of California Mini Sprint Challenge.” For the second year in a row the CLS will take on the BCRA (Bay Cities Racing Association) at Scott Schweitzer’s Bakersfield Speedway in a three race series on March 16th, April 20 and May 11.
Other highlights on the schedule will be the April 13 race at The PAS with the World of Outlaws, June 1st at the Orange Show Speedway during the annual Orange Show Fair and July 4 and the above mentioned season ending Budweiser Oval Nationals at The PAS on November 1st and 2nd.
Two of the 18 races, April 20 at Bakersfield and June 1 at the Orange Show, will be run without wings. All of the others will be run with the wings on top.
