PHENIX CITY, Ala. — Derek Hagar was in the right place at the right time to win Saturday night’s Alabama Sprint Car Nationals at East Alabama Motor Speedway.

Tim Crawley led the first 27 laps of the USCS Thunder Tour event at the three-eighths-mile dirt track, but cut down a right rear tire on lap 28, handing the lead to Hagar.

Hagar led the rest of the 30-lap distance, holding off Eric Riggins for the victory.

Terry Gray, Anthony Nicholson and Crawley rounded out the top five.
