KNOXVILLE LIVE!: Larson Wins!
KNOXVILLE, Iowa — Night three of the 43rd annual FVP Knoxville Nationals is getting ready to begin.
11:47 p.m.: Kyle Larson dominated Friday’s feature event. Cap Henry ran an impressive race to finish second with Chad Kemenah and Jac Haudenschild also earning spots in Saturday’s feature.
11:41 p.m.: Yellow flag comes out with Kyle Larson leading. Chad Kemenah and Jac Haudenschild are chasing.
11:19 p.m.: A wild crash at the start of the feature collected James McFadden, Tim Shaffer, Rager Phillips, Robby Wolfgang and Austin McCarl. No drivers were injured.
11:05 p.m.: Tim Shaffer won the second B main with Austin McCarl and Don Droud Jr. also transferring.
10:49 p.m.: A caution plague first B main ended with Bronson Maeschen taking the victory when Sammy Swindell ran out of fuel on the last lap. Swindell took the third and final transfer spot, while Wayne Johnson also transferred. However, Swindell was light at the scales and was disqualified from the first B main. Dan Dietrich inherited the transfer spot.
10:07 p.m.: Rico Abreu won the C main with Trey Gustin, Kaley Gharst and Jacob Allen transferring to the B main.
9:54 p.m.: Ron Krysl flipped on the opening lap of the C main.
9:35 p.m.: Jeff Swindell topped the sixth heat with Sam Hafertepe Jr. and Jason Johnson also earning transfer spots.
9:29 p.m.: Robby Wolfgang outran Logan Schuchart in a battle of No. 1 sprint cars to win the fifth heat. Rager Phillips claimed the final transfer spot.
9:23 p.m.: Randy Hannagan won the fourth heat race ahead of Kyle Larson and Tasker Phillips.
9:13 p.m.: Davey Heskin won the third heat ahead of Josh Schneiderman and Dustin Selvage, who stole the final transfer spot from Sammy Swindell on the last lap.
9:07 p.m.: Jac Haudenschild won the second heat race with Brandon Wimmer and Cap Henry also earning transfer spots.
9:00 p.m.: James McFadden won the first eight-lap hit race. Ed Lynch Jr. and fast-qualifier Chad Kemenah also earned transfer spots.
8:36 p.m.: Chad Kemenah was fast qualifier tonight with a lap of 15.762 seconds. Jac Haudenschild, Sammy Swindell, Kyle Larson and R.J. Johnson filled the top five.
7:58: All six hot lap sessions are complete. Chad Kemenah posted the quickest lap of the night. Time trials are about to roll on to the track.
7:48 p.m.: Bill Rose just took a wild flip during the fifth group of hot laps when the rear axle broke on his car. Rose exited the car on his own power.
7:34: The third group of hot laps is on the track. Seventy-one cars will each get one qualifying lap tonight, followed by six heats, a C main, a pair of B mains and a 25-lap feature.
7:16 p.m.: The first group of cars is pushing on to the track now.
It’s a big night of racing with a full program of qualifying, heat races and features with the top four finishers receiving starting spots 17 through 20 in Saturday night’s $150,000-to-win 50-lap feature.
The night concludes with the SPEED SPORT Knoxville World Challenge, which pays $10,000 to win and gives entered non-qualified drivers one last opportunity to lock into Saturday’s feature.
Push trucks are currently running in the race track and hot laps should start at approximately 7:15 p.m.
