Moore Masters WAR Sprints
BETHANY, Mo. — In front of a packed grandstand at the Northwest Missouri State Fairgrounds, Mitchell Moore parked in victory lane for the second year in a row. The current point leader of the WAR Series presented by Impact Signs, Awnings, and Wraps started fourth with PJ Grimes and Bob Weuve making up the front row. Weuve was able to take the advantage once the field took the green as Moore worked his way into second.
Weuve continued to lead over the next handful of laps as Moore, Taylor Walton, and Bob Thoman gave chase.
On lap five, Moore made a turn one pass of Weuve to take over the top spot. Moore continued to lead on lap six as the action picked up behind him between Weuve, Walton, Thoman, and eighth-starting Josh Stephens. Over the next four laps, Moore stretched out his lead as he was followed by Weuve, Walton, Thoman, and Stephens. Chad Tye joined in the action as he followed closely in sixth.
The top six would continue to run this way over the next six laps, but Moore had checked out on the rest of the field.
Over the final five laps with Moore comfortably out front, Weuve, Walton and Thoman had a torrid battle for second as they all struggled to get by a lapped car. Positions were swapped in each turn among them as Stephens and Tye also joined in the fun.
As Moore took the checkered flag in his Kelly Potter owned Eagle with Moore power, the group behind continued their swapping of positions. Weuve, who at one point had dropped to fourth, ended up in second in his Noble All American Sales/Coffee Cup Café Maxim with Bucklin power.
Walton was a strong third in John Hillman’s Gambler with Hillman power. Stephens worked his way up to fourth in the Summers Farms/Stephens Automotive Eagle with Stephens power. Tye rounded out the top five.
