Stewart Wins Skagit 360 Nationals Opener

ALGER, Wash. — The opening night of the Bob’s Burgers and Brew 360 Nationals presented by Goodyear is now in the books with Shane Stewart picking up the preliminary night feature main event win.
Forty-eight 360 sprint cars made up the field easily making this one of the top 360 sprint car events in the country in 2012.
Trey Starks led the first 14 laps of the 30-lap feature. Three yellow flags and one red flag slowed the first half of the race. On the lap-14 restart, Shane Stewart who had started 8th moved around Starks on the high side and into the lead. Stewart led a caution free final 15 laps for the preliminary night win.
Heading into night two Stewart heads the top six in points with Olson, Eric Fisher, two-time defending champion Travis Jacobson, Jason Solwold and Sam Hafertepe competing in the Saturday night A scramble to determine the top six spots.
Chad Hillier was the top qualifier with a 12.008-second lap of the three-tenths-mile dirt track.
In the NW Dwarf Car Challenge Kelly Gutches, Rj McGaughey and Doug McVae won heat races with Gutches picking up career win No. 127 in the 25- lap feature.
