Bernal Keeps Right On Winning

PLACERVILLE, Calif. – Lately it seems like whenever Ryan Bernal climbs behind the wheel of a sprint-car, he pulls it into victory lane.

Bernal scored his sixth victory in USAC competition so far in 2013 Saturday night at Placerville Speedway, winning his second-straight USAC Western Classic Sprint Car Series feature.

Max Adams led the first four laps of the 30-lap feature, but on lap five Bernal took command. Once out front Bernal was unbeatable, driving away to victory at the quarter-mile dirt oval. In addition to two Western Classic victories this year, Bernal also has four USAC West Coast Sprint Car Series triumphs to his credit.

James Sweeney finished second Saturday at Placerville. Adams, D.J. Johnson and Jim Trulli completed the top five.

The finish:

Ryan Bernal, James Sweeney, Max Adams, D.J. Johnson, Jim Trulli, Marc Mackay, Tony Hunt, C.J. Humphreys, Justin Johnson, Jim Richardson, Gordon Rodgers, Shauna Hogg, Matt Streeter, Colton Slack, Myles Bishop.
