Clauson Dominates At Angell Park
SUN PRAIRIE, Wis. — Bryan Clauson won the 30-lap USAC Mopar National Midget and Stark Automotive Group/Mid-State Equipment Badger Midget Series co-sanctioned feature Sunday night at Angell Park Speedway.
Caleb Armstrong jumped into the lead at the start followed by Clauson and Brad Kuhn. Armstrong began lapping slower cars on the eighth lap, four laps later Armstrong jumped the cushion exiting turn four, giving Clauson the lead. One lap later Armstrong spun, and retired from the event.
On the restart, Clauson pulled away from the field with a great battle for the runner-up position between Kuhn and fast-qualifier Tracy Hines. Badger point leader Bubba Altig stalled on lap 27, setting up a three-lap shoot out.
On the restart, Clauson, driving the Keith Kunz/Curb-Agajanian owned Bullet-Toyota No. 71 easily pulled away from Kuhn, finishing 0.928 seconds ahead of Kuhn, Hines, USAC National Midget point leader Darren Hagen and Zach Daum.
Altig holds 34-point lead over Danny Stratton heading into the sixth annual Salute to Harry Turner July 14 at Wilmot (Wis.) Raceway.
Jason Tetrault took the lead on the opening lap and won the 15-lap Badger 600 Micro Series feature.
