Ensign Is A Western Classic Winner

STOCKTON, Calif. – Geoff Ensign came out on top of a late-race battle to win Friday’s USAC Western Classic Sprint Car Series feature at the Stockton 99 Dirt Track.

Matt Streeter jumped into the lead at the start of the 30-lap feature and led the opening 17 laps. Richard Vander Weerd made his move on lap 18, taking the top spot away from Streeter.

Vander Weerd held serve until lap 28, when Ensign drove around him to take over the lead. Once in front he held on to scores his first Western Classic victory of the 2013 racing season.

Streeter ended up second, followed by R. Vander Weerd, Jace Vander Weerd and Johnathon Henry.
