It’s Stanbrough In Indiana Sprint Week Opener
Stanbrough opened a full straightaway lead after the restart, as Clauson and Cottle scrapped over second position. After trading the spot several times, Cottle secured the position in the Epperson Painting No. 2 Spike. With lapped traffic, Cottle narrowed Stanbrough’s advantage to half a straightaway at the finish.
Working from 14th-starting slot, Schuerenberg passed Clauson for third on lap 29.
Stanbrough said that his car came to life when he changed his line on the track.
“I moved out a little bit and found something that the car liked and once I got into the lead, I could see that it was slickening up a little bit,” Stanbrough said. “I moved down and I could pretty much run anywhere I wanted to run. When I got into lapped traffic I could just move a car-width out and it was good there. I never really had to go to the top, but I’m sure it would have been good up there, too.”
Cottle was pleased with his second place run and put it into context.
“The first night of Sprint Week, it’s always good and hopefully it builds the momentum for the rest of the week,” Cottle explained. “We got beat by one of the best. I thought that we had him for a minute, but he got back past us and we’ll try to get one tomorrow.”
