CHICO, Calif. – Kyle Larson started off the Gold Cup at Silver Dollar Speedway on the right foot, grabbing a pair of victories on Wednesday evening.

Larson scored triumphs in the USAC Western Classic Sprint Car Series and the Civil War Sprint Car Series at the quarter-mile dirt oval.

“We had two good cars tonight. I really had a lot of fun tonight. The bottom (of the track) got a little tricky there. Then I ran out of tear-offs (clear sheets used on the helmet, mostly used on dirt track racing, so the driver can keep his vision clear by tearing off sheets during the race.) I have to thank all the guys who helped me tonight. I’m going to try my hardest in the next nights of racing.” said Larson.

Larson dominated the USAC Western Classic Sprint Car Series feature, leading all 20 laps after winning the third heat aboard the Ford No. 73.

Things were a bit more difficult in the Civil War feature. Larson had to work his way through the field, but eventually took the lead on lap 12 and was never challenged during the rest of the 360 winged sprint-car event.

Andy Forsberg, who finished second in both features, admitted he had nothing for Larson in either event.

“There was a big problem tonight, Larson was just too freaking fast. He was also too freaking good,” Forsberg said. “They put a good car under me tonight. I thought we had a pretty decent run tonight on this new dirt on the track. I want to thank all of you (all the fans, etc.) for coming tonight.”
