Rain Changes Winter Challenge Schedule
PEORIA, Ariz. – Continued rain in Phoenix has forced the cancellation of Saturday night’s scheduled round two of the Winter Challenge at Canyon Speedway Park. Round one was rained out on Friday night.
As a result, a doubleheader is now in place to finish off the scheduled six-race event next Saturday. A makeup event has been scheduled for next Saturday, Feb. 2, at noon with gates opening at 10:00 a.m. The scheduled $5,000-to-win Winter Challenge finale will follow later that evening with racing now at 7:00 p.m.
Round three of the Winter Challenge featuring the wingless sprint cars of the USAC Southwest and USAC West Coast Series along with IMCA Modifieds, Mini Sprints and Pure Stocks is still on as scheduled for Sunday with gates opening at 3:00 p.m. and racing action going green at 5:00 p.m.
